History

In July 2011 Capita announced the acquisition of Ventura, a customer contact specialist with around 8000 employees, mainly in Yorkshire, Cardiff, Milton Keynes and Pune, India.
Operating since 1968 Ventura was the third party customer services management arm of Next plc and managed more than 50 million customer contacts each year for a range of private and public sector clients including O2, Orange, British Gas, British Midland and Department for Work and Pensions.
The acquisition increased Capita's capacity for customer management services, providing additional front office services and flexible capacity for existing Capita clients and also gives the opportunity to provide Ventura's client base with access to Capita's wider service offering.
In September 2011 Capita went on to acquire the private sector division of Vertex to further enhance existing customer services capabilities.
Vertex Private Sector was a contact centre focused outsourcing business, particularly strong in the retail, utilities and telecommunications markets. The business had 1,400 employees across the UK, at sites in Liverpool, Manchester, Forres, Salford and Sheffield as well as additional support from a 200 strong team in India.
